In this study, we aim to revisit the articulation of the question of death as it appears in Emmanuel Levinas’ works, "Time and the Other" and "Totality and Infinity," in order to demonstrate its connection to the question of alterity and the face. The theme of death is approached through its relationship with suffering, highlighting its character as future and its relationship to the theme of language, to bring attention to the possibility of realism or an exit from idealism. Above all, we focused on emphasizing how this theme represents the first image in which radical alterity is announced.

Abstract
In this study, we aim to revisit the articulation of the question of death as it appears in Emmanuel Levinas’ works, "Time and the Other" and "Totality and Infinity," in order to demonstrate its connection to the question of alterity and the face. The theme of death is approached through its relationship with suffering, highlighting its character as future and its relationship to the theme of language, to bring attention to the possibility of realism or an exit from idealism. Above all, we focused on emphasizing how this theme represents the first image in which radical alterity is announced.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
