An English thoroughbred presented with large neoformations of the left frontal, nasal and maxillary areas. The animal was euthanased due to its poor general conditions. Autopsy and examination using magnetic resonance imagery (MRI) revealed a tumour of soft tissue and bone that had spread to the left nasal cavity, left sinuses, part of the right sinuses and the cranial cavity. A non-differentiated epidermoid carcinoma was diagnosed on histology. The incidence of tumour of the nasal cavities and paranasal sinuses is low in horse. Tumours are mainly benign. Carcinomas of the maxillary sinus are the most common malignant tumours seen. Tumour growth is slow and clinical signs seen include unilateral nasal discharge, facial deformation and obstruction of airways. Diagnosis is often made late in the development of the neoplasm and possible treatment is limited with poor results.
