Inventario e Sistema Informativo delle Specie Esotiche della Sardegna

The Authors describe the methodology used and the preliminary results of the first catalogue of alien species of Sardinia, GPS/GIS assisted. This inventory was compiled using historical data (e.g. local floras and florulas), herbarium data and oriented field surveys. The total number of over 900 recorded species includes all alien species ever recorded or surveyed in the territory of the region, including cultivated species, ephemeral species, ornamentals, alien species recorded in garden centers, forest nurseries. Within this first general set of ca. 900 species the Authors selected to map a set of 111 alien species ranked as invasive or potentially invasive. These species have been also described in finer details in the dedicated information system and geo-database.
