This short essay explores the concept of the political in Jean-Luc Nancy’s philosophy, focusing on the link between art and the city. In this analy- sis, which takes as its starting point the notion of the city, it will show how Jean-Luc Nancy conceives the political through the dynamic relationship between artistic expression and the urban context. Starting from this nexus, it will be seen how the perspective on the essence of the political gradually unravels in Nancy’s philosophy through a perspective that is increasingly intertwined with the aesthetic dimension, which finds in the concept of the work of art, as an aim without end, the fil rouge underlying the dimension of the political. Such an interpretation key could prove fruitful for rethink- ing and reconsidering the importance of the relationship between art, the city and political life, in an era in which politics is tightly based on national borders, in which the concept of homeland returns as a leitmotiv of the individual states of the globe.
