The figure of the limit in Kant has assumed particular importance, not only for the function it performs within the Critique of pure reason system but, above all, for the speculative implications that this concept has exercised on Kant’s contemporaries precisely because of its ambiguity. The threshold on which Kantian philosophy stops, because of its unresolved dualism, has made it possible to overcome it. Questioning the function of the limit in the internal coherences that this work would like to highlight, means understanding the implications and repercussions that it has in the very framework of criticism and, at the same time, in the constitution of the Kantian subjectivity.

Abstract

The figure of the limit in Kant has assumed particular importance, not only for the function it performs within the Critique of pure reason system but, above all, for the speculative implications that this concept has exercised on Kant’s contemporaries precisely because of its ambiguity. The threshold on which Kantian philosophy stops, because of its unresolved dualism, has made it possible to overcome it. Questioning the function of the limit in the internal coherences that this work would like to highlight, means understanding the implications and repercussions that it has in the very framework of criticism and, at the same time, in the constitution of the Kantian subjectivity.
