Una scatola per sigilli dall'area archeologica di Peltuinum (AQ)

This paper aims to focus attention on an artifact discovered during excavations conduct - ed in the archaeological area of Peltuinum (AQ). It belongs to a category of finds that, based on current research, is extremely rare in archaeological contexts, particularly in Italy: the seal box. The object can be attributed to a type of bone seal box, of which only a few examples are preserved and distributed across the mediterranean region, and it can reasonably be dated between the 1st century BC and the beginning of the 1st century AD. The discovery of the seal box in Peltuinum, within one of the multifunctional spaces located along the eastern side of the forum, aligns coherently with the chronology of other findings that attest to the beginning of the organization of the forum area, providing an additional valuable element for reconstructing the site’s urban history.
