Craft beer’s success is one of the best examples of Neolocalism, an approach that reflects contemporary customers’ search for local traditions and « sense of place ». The study presents an exploratory analysis of a selection of craft breweries from two Italian and two French-speaking regions, which have a strong territorial identity and a significant interest in the brewing field. The aim is, on the one hand, to identify in the firms’ websites in the corpus the elements that promote local identity and, on the other, to verify if they contribute to the enhancement of the territory from a sustainable development perspective.

Abstract

Craft beer’s success is one of the best examples of Neolocalism, an approach that reflects contemporary customers’ search for local traditions and « sense of place ». The study presents an exploratory analysis of a selection of craft breweries from two Italian and two French-speaking regions, which have a strong territorial identity and a significant interest in the brewing field. The aim is, on the one hand, to identify in the firms’ websites in the corpus the elements that promote local identity and, on the other, to verify if they contribute to the enhancement of the territory from a sustainable development perspective.
