The striking changes in the international geopolitical arena can be partially related to the dynamism of the information society, which unleashes a new form of global leadership connected to a kind of immaterial capitalism and to the exponential growth of a power based on the digital and on communication.

Abstract
The striking changes in the international geopolitical arena can be partially related to the dynamism of the information society, which unleashes a new form of global leadership connected to a kind of immaterial capitalism and to the exponential growth of a power based on the digital and on communication. One of the key features on which digital power is based is given by the submarine infrastructures responsible for transporting data, able to reshape all the global dynamics. The control of such infrastructures represents, today, an impressive tool of geo-economic influence. The network of these communication cables, in fact, can physically merge different territories, strengthening their socio-economic, political and strategic ties. The paper aims to highlight, with a critical eye, the geopolitical and geoeconomic leadership positions of the main world powers through the geographical analysis of submarine cables, which represent the cornerstone of the global internet.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
