Scientific publishing models are now showing their lim- its, both culturally and in terms of social impact. Digital platforms, Open Access movements and processes of democratisation of science and knowledge are viable alternatives to a standardised and inflexible system that fails to accommodate diverse or evolving modes. This positional paper uses two case studies to examine the specific principles of scientific production in design and open processes as a constructive alternative for the aca- demic design field.
