In order to enrich the juridical-religious framework inherent to the original characteristics of the dictatorship in ancient Rome, the analysis of the fragments taken from the priestly documents arrived through the testimonies of ancient authors is of fundamental importance, with particular attention to those coming from the libri augurum. From the testimonies of Cicero and Livy, who transcribe passages taken from the libri augurum which report the information of an ancestral time of the dictatorship, it appears clear that the nomination of the dictator represented a very important event for the rhythms of life of the ancient city, inevitably affecting also towards the more strictly religious aspects of the civitas, with an active involvement of the priestly colleges, and in a more specific way of that of the augurs.

Abstract
In order to enrich the juridical-religious framework inherent to the original characteristics of the dictatorship in ancient Rome, the analysis of the fragments taken from the priestly documents arrived through the testimonies of ancient authors is of fundamental importance, with particular attention to those coming from the libri augurum. From the testimonies of Cicero and Livy, who transcribe passages taken from the libri augurum which report the information of an ancestral time of the dictatorship, it appears clear that the nomination of the dictator represented a very important event for the rhythms of life of the ancient city, inevitably affecting also towards the more strictly religious aspects of the civitas, with an active involvement of the priestly colleges, and in a more specific way of that of the augurs.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
