Les normes régissant le traitement des donnés à caractère personnel des demandeurs d'asile dans l'Union européenne à la lumière des principes du Règlement UE 2016/679.

In the present work, the principles on which the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 is based, have formed a reference point to examine the kind of legal protection people seeking asylum in the EU receive concerning their personal data. The aim of the research is to answer the question whether this protection varies depending on the circumstance that the data subject applies for asylum. We will appreciate how significant the matter at issue is if we consider, on the one hand, that data protection is a universal right; on the other hand, that democracy requires all people to be treated as equals in regard to their fundamental rights, independently of their ethnic origin or, more broadly, a condition – as the one of asylum seeker – linked to sensitive aspects.
