Particularly significant is a small group of buildings for spectacula whose epigraphs mention the ownership of the place where the public monument is erected by its benefactor.

Abstract

The following study aims to analyse a series of inscriptions, related to the construction of public buildings by private benefactors, that indicate the ownership of the land within the text. The topic, which is part of a wider research study based on the superposition of buildings for spectacula on structures with private functions and use, allows us to develop a series of considerations both from an urban and juridical point of view. Particularly significant is a small group of buildings for spectacula whose epigraphs mention the ownership of the place where the public monument is erected by its benefactor.
