The presence ofSilene velutinoidesPomel, hitherto regarded as un endemic species of northern Algeria, has been noted in two localitics of thc middle eastern calcareous area or Sardinia. Biological, taxonomical and ecological notes on the species are reported as well as its chromosomic somatic number (2n= 24).
