Seed surface of several species ofSilene, studied by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), reveals ornamentations which differ considerably from species to species.The seed of each species has its own characteristic spermoderm pattern which will probably help in solving many taxonomic problems. SEM seed-coat observations seems to give good results in taxonomy of thisSilenegroup species. Keys of identification is established on the basis of characters wich distinguish the species.
