I Contesti delle fasi imperiali del quartiere centrale di Nora: i materiali ceramici: una finestra preferenziale su cultura materiale e scambi commerciali nella sardegna romana

In approaching the study of ceramics from the central district of Nora, we’ve immediately found some fragmentary about the studies of the contexts of the excavations of Roman Sardinia. This deficiency, as pointed out by C.Tronchetti on several occasions, has suggested the concrete idea to go into that in reference to the archaeological site of Nora. The most lacking facet is an overall figure on the contexts of the various stages which offers the opportunity to develop other kinds of reflections. In the matter of fact there is a question above all: how much was costly to Nora the importation of goods from the other markets in the Mediterranean? Starting from this reflection, it seemed appropriate to try to determine the large amount of pottery’s fragments - recovered during the excavation in the central district - in relation of the context of discovery together with the data drawn from some quantitative analysis on each class, in order to develop a documentation that approximately shows the weight of Nora’s economic flows throughout its history. The drawn data provide a statistical basis for a sample which partially can be compared, hopefully, with other contexts in future excavations, within the same Nora but, above all, with the other Roman sites of Sardinia, which is a very rich reservoir of historical informations in the western Mediterranean.
