Abstract
This study is part of the current problem of forest fires. The classical approach based on strengthening the active fighting is being overwhelmed by the new preventive approach based on the identification and modification of the causes. The aim of this work is to reduce the unclassified causes of forest fires, useless for statistical purposes. Here is presented the application of the Delphi method in Sardinia to analyze these causes. Two case studies of preventive silviculture with the use of prescribed burning conducted in Sardinia and Campania are also presented. These studies analyzes all the steps need to implement it, the results of structural condition of the fuel and the parameters of fire behavior. It was also measured the accumulation of fuel to estimate the time of return of the technique in similar situations. In the last chapter are analyzed the characteristics of a theAmpelodesmos mauritanicusPoir. Dur. Schinz as fuel, described as particularly flammable. Statistical analysis of the structure of the fuel represents a fundamental step to develop a predictive model for reliable estimates of fuel load. The Delphi method for the identification of the causes has proved to be useful for global understanding the phenomenon. The prescribed burning treatments showed a good reduction of the fine fuel potentially dangerous. The study of A.m. showed its high resilience and capacity to recolonize post fire areas.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
