The paper analyses the meanings and concepts of the iconographic variants discussed in the different editions of the De Cive by Thomas Hobbes. Furthering the studies on the Hobbesian “visual strategies” in the Leviathan, the essay shows the theoretical reasons underlying the changes occurred over time concerning the representation of the figures personifying Imperium and Libertas on the frontispiece of the De Cive.

Abstract
The paper analyses the meanings and concepts of the iconographic variants discussed in the different editions of the De Cive by Thomas Hobbes. Furthering the studies on the Hobbesian “visual strategies” in the Leviathan, the essay shows the theoretical reasons underlying the changes occurred over time concerning the representation of the figures personifying Imperium and Libertas on the frontispiece of the De Cive.File in questo prodotto:
