1953: in Siamo donne Alida Valli’s beauty shines on post-war Italian silver screens. An anti- Cinderella of sorts invited to a proletarian ball, the diva plays her own role and, to a cer- tain extent, seems to hint at the concreteness of her everyday life. We can guess the diffi- culties and the anxieties that lay behind the public image of the actress. The essay, start- ing from her personal correspondences preserved in the Alida Valli archival collection, digs into this concrete dimension of her life, exploring the relationship with Bibi Campanella (1927-1998) and with the other women of her personal and professional entourage, enhancing the feminine network that surrounds and supports the actress.

Abstract
1953: in Siamo donne Alida Valli’s beauty shines on post-war Italian silver screens. An anti- Cinderella of sorts invited to a proletarian ball, the diva plays her own role and, to a cer- tain extent, seems to hint at the concreteness of her everyday life. We can guess the diffi- culties and the anxieties that lay behind the public image of the actress. The essay, start- ing from her personal correspondences preserved in the Alida Valli archival collection, digs into this concrete dimension of her life, exploring the relationship with Bibi Campanella (1927-1998) and with the other women of her personal and professional entourage, enhancing the feminine network that surrounds and supports the actress.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
