This dissertation provides a synchronic description of the phonetics and inflectional morphology of contemporary Gallurese, addressing the lack of a systematic, empirically grounded descriptive reference for the language in its current state. The analysis adopts common Gallurese as an operational reference variety and restricts its scope to four closely related levels – phonetics/phonology, graphematic representation (standard orthography), and inflection – while excluding derivational morphology and syntax. The study is based on a searchable digital corpus of written and oral texts produced over roughly the last fifty years, balanced across genres and diatopic variation. The corpus is used in a corpus-based perspective, primarily as a tool for testing and controlling descriptive generalizations. On the phonetic side, the dissertation reconstructs the segmental inventory and the organization of key microstructures and phonosyntactic processes, and it clarifies the relationship between phonological structure and the standardized spelling system. On the morphological side, it offers a paradigmatic account of nominal and verbal inflection, making classes and variants comparable and formalizing both regular patterns and semi-regular behaviour. Overall, the work provides a reusable descriptive basis for further research and – without normative aims – for potential applications in documentation, teaching, and language planning

Abstract
Overall, the work provides a reusable descriptive basis for further research and – without normative aims – for potential applications in documentation, teaching, and language planning| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
