This PhD program explores the potential applications of techniques and technologies from the fields of graphic sciences, surveying, and digital representation within the medical and healthcare sector. The research was developed as part of an agreement between the PhD program in Architecture and Environment at the Department of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning of the University of Sassari and the company Medical Concept Lab, in implementation of Italian Ministerial Decree No. 352 of 9 April 2022. It falls under PNRR Mission 4, Component 2 “From Research to Enterprise” – Investment 3.3 “Introduction of innovative PhD programs that respond to the innovation needs of companies and promote the hiring of researchers by enterprises.” In line with the company’s research interests and commercial objectives, the doctoral thesis investigated the applicative potential of operating room digitalization and the development of an AR application for the management of surgical processes. Specifically, the main outcome of the thesis is the creation of a product prototype: the mobile application CORA (Checklist for Operating Room Arrangement), designed to support nursing staff in the operating room setup processes through the use of a visual, immersive, and interactive checklist

Abstract
