FONTI STORICHE SU TRE CASI DI STUDIO PER LA DIOCESI DI TURRIS (SASSARI) NEL PRIMO MILLENNIO. I CASI DELLA TRANSLATIO DEL CORPO DI SAN GABINO, DELLE CHIESE RUPESTRI E DELLE PIEVI.

The Phd thesis examines the sources (from the origins of Christianity to the Middle Ages) regarding the documented presence of the body of a well-known holy saint in the ancient basilica of San Pietro in Vaticano under the pontificate of Gregory III (731-741), retracing the history of the Diocese of Turris , from which it is hypothesized to have been translated, up to the period of the infiltration of iconoclastic doctrines into the main Dioceses of Sardinia, and their relationship with Rome and the papal authority and with Constantinople and the imperial authority. The history of the territory of Sassari is also retraced through the presentation of new hypotheses on the massive diffusion of rock churches in the territory between Turris and Sassari and the institution of parish churches, which had its greatest expansion in the Kingdom of Torres.

La tesi esamina le fonti (dalle origini del cristianesimo al medioevo) riguardo la documentata presenza del corpo di un noto santo santo nella basilica antica di San Pietro in Vaticano sotto il pontificato di Gregorio III (731-741), ripercorrendo la storia della Diocesi turritana, dalla quale si ipotizza sia stato traslato, sino al periodo dell'infiltrazione delle dottrine iconoclaste nelle principali Diocesi della Sardegna, e del loro rapporto con Roma e l'autorità papale e con Costantinopoli e l'autorità imperiale. Si ripercorre inoltre la storia del territorio di Sassari attraverso la presentazione di nuove ipotesi sulla massiccia diffusione delle chiese rupestri nel territorio tra Turris e Sassari e dell'istituzione delle pievi, che nel Regno di Torres ha avuto la sua più grande espansione.
