The research reconstructs Antonio Simon Mossa’s university experience in the 30’s and 40’s among the Fascist University Groups of Pisa, Florence, Rome and Sassari, with a particular focus to his training in the field of filmmaking. Browsing the Antonio Simon Mossa documents from several archives, three principal characteristics of his film training activity have been pointed out: spectator, film critic, and screenwriter. The thesis discusses the evolution of Simon Mossa’s critical thoughts that aimed to refine the aesthetic approach and a growing acquisition of cinematographic language and techniques, which result in the practice of film criticism and the editing of the “Praxis und Kino (Prassi e Cinema)”. The thesis also proposes the historiographical reconstruction and the theoretical-critical analysis of the screenplays “L’armata grigia” and “La barca sul fiume”, written by Simon Mossa in collaboration with Fiorenzo Serra, as well as “Vento di terra”, a film entirely set in Alghero, which won him the “Littoriali della Cultura e dell’Arte” of 1940 in Bologna. The thesis is inserted in the territorial cultural context of Alghero and it follows the doctoral scientific guidelines. It contributes to create cinetours in agreement with what is organized in Alghero by the Società Umanitaria in the “Cinema delle Terre del Mare. Festival itinerante per cinefili in movimento”. It promotes the area through the history of the cinema, shot in Alghero, and it contributes relaunching the candidacy of “Alghero Città del Cinema”.
