Sviluppo locale e turismo: il caso della Gallura

The work analyzes the concepts of local development, globalization and "glocalization", in reference also to the touristic phenomenon and introduces Sardinia in its geographical and historical aspects, examining the evolution of the tourism economy, which, by now, characterizes itself both at regional and at international levels. The attention is focused on Gallura, a Sardinian region which determined the quantitative and qualitative take off of tourism in Sardinia. The study of this area in its different geographic aspects allowed us to synthesize the relation between tourism and rural environment and to highlight as this local system of tourism has entered into a process of "glocalization" tied not only to a "Costa Smeralda model" but also to its own cultural characteristics. The critical aspects of the local touristic system have also been evaluated and from this analysis this tourist region seems having reached a maturity which today it must face again avoiding the competition process already existing and the spatial segregation involving the internal areas in its new trail of development.
