The study focuses on attic black-glazed pottery of the 4th century B.C. in the archaeological sites of the western Mediterranean area. A total of 109 sites were counted through the analysis of the published data, concerning Punic, Greek and native settlements. The work is divided in three study areas. The first section concerns the definition and critical analysis of problems of typological, chronological and distribution character. The second section concerns the diffusion of attic black-glazed pottery and consequent distribution trends. The third and last section concerns the analysis of attic ceramic in Sardinia. The data implementation took place by creating a database consisting of sheets relative to each single finding, drawn up according to chronological, typological parameters and origin. Later on, the typological, chronological evolution was examined, as well as the diffusion of 14 shapes among the most common and popular in the western Mediterranean area, through the aid of frequency pie charts and distribution maps. According to the study, there are two distribution macro-circuits. The first consists of the sites in the south-east Spain up to southern Catalonia, Balearic Islands, Sardinia and North Africa, and the second concerns southern France, Aleria (Corsica) and Northern Catalonia.
