Gender differences in the cells of amniotic fluid is still poorly understood. In this study is to demonstrate a difference between amniocytes cytomorphology males and females using TEM and STEM observation.This study used cultured amniocytes, after the XX and XY sex determination, after 10 days of growth plate.The amniocytes are included in resin, and cut by ultramicrotome.There are significant differences by observation in TEM and STEM. The ultrastrucutural analys show differences between the organules of the cytoplasm: in the male cells the organules are very poor and the cytoplasm gel appears not omogeneous, in particolar near the nucleus.In the female cells the organules are very numerous and the cytoplasm gel are very consistent and rich in organules, lisosomes, mitochondria and RER.The cytomorphology differences about the gender of the amniotic fluid cells not are clear at the moment. The ultrastructural morphological aspects suggest the these cells are very different about the growth in vitro and then the hypothesis would it that these cells evolve following a different way, to develop processes of maturation gender specific.
