Abstract
The research project, developed on the basis of a personal long-standing experience of archaeological investigation in the urban context of Porto Torres, in the north-west Sardinia, has opened new knowledge about the history and topographic changes of the city and allowed to test digital tools for the protection of cultural heritage and urban planning through the ex novo study, reinterpretation, standardization, communication and sharing of archaeological data.Outcome of the evolution of the urban body began with the founding of theColonia Iulia Turris Libisonisafter the middle of the first century. B.C., in a territory already deeply marked by the indigenous settlement, the contemporary city of Porto Torres is one of the most complex archaeological context and one of the areas of most intense experimentation of urban archeology in Sardinia. The Archaeological Information System of Porto Torres led to the digitalization of archival and published data , and the transition from symbolic representation to the floor plan of the archaeological remains. The experimentation of the Italian Archeological Information System (SITAN) parameters within the project 'Creation and activation of Sardinian pole of national IT network for the collective construction of WEB GIS of the archaeological Italian heritage ' represented a further step to a real and structured collaboration between all entities engaged in the research and protection of archaeological heritageFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
