Abstract

Identity, afliation, community, trust, social capital, local development and governance are the key words argued in this dissertation. Our our objective is to describe and to analyze — through a predominantly sociological and methodological individualistic approach — the key words’s conceptual and real problems whic arise when the governance’s principles are applied in design and implementation of local development policies in rural areas. Refections in terms of “multifunctionality” as a economic opportunity and a full development of local and social resources in rural areas, favoring at the same time communities participation in processes of territorial governance. Themes are critically analyzed from the perspective of rural areas governance, underlining the positive and inclusive aspects — but also the negative ones — that governance tools implementation can had to advance the difusion of trust and social capital in the local communities to promote a participatory model of civil society in the design and implementation of policies in order to achieve a sustainable local development.
