Abstract

During the Ph.D. period, mastery of several traditional microbiology techniques, such as bacteriology and cytology, and molecular techniques was acquired, with application on randomized clinical trials. The research activity has focused mainly onin vitroantibacterial, antioxidant and cytotoxic activity with subsequent application of some essential oils in vivo on animals and on humans.Considering the results obtained, it is clear thatThymus vulgaris - red thyme geraniol selandL. grossooils have shown good antimicrobial activity, compared toL. angustifoliaandL. sumianon multi-drug clinical strains ofP. aeruginosa. WhileL. angustifolia Millerpresented a cytotoxic action on CaCo-2 cells (Colon-carcinoma Carcinoma Cells) probably due to the action of terpenes. The oleolites ofHelichrysum microphyllum Cambess. subsp. tyrrhenicum Bacch.,Brullo & GiussoandHypericum perforatum subsp.
