Results are presented of field trials carried out during 1996-97 with special attention to the effectiveness of azoxystrobin against grapevine downy mildew. The new strobilurin-analogue fungicide was applied at 18.7 - 25.0 g a.i./hl, 4 to 7 times between May and July in the two years. Despite the high infection percentages observed on unsprayed plots. Azoxystrobin was confirmed to be very effective against this fungal disease
