The Chapter deeply analyses the Eritrea-Ethiopia Claims Commission awards in order to evaluate how the relevant norms of international humanitarian law and international public law concerning the treatment of protected persons (prisoners of war; civilians and diplomatic personnel) in international armed conflict have been applied to solve disputes between the belligerent parties in the Eritrea-Ethiopia conflict of 1998-2000.
