La Sardegna fra arcaismi e modernità (1718-1918) LA SARDEGNA LINGUISTICA A CAVALLO FRA DUE MONDI Carlo Schirru Abstract In the framework of a more complex research on phonetic-phonological interferences in learning languages, this study deals with the linguistic situation in Sardinia in the period of time ranging from 1718 to 1918. Besides the data from the literature, this study presents some oral documents of the second part of last century as examples of the Sardinian and regional Italian linguistic models used between the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century. A recent and specific socio-linguistic analysis, performed in 54 different places and concerning the use of Sardinian language by the grandparents of 550 subjects confirms the general and constant use of the language by Sardinian people during the period of time analyzed.
