Purpose: The aim of the study is to evaluate the construction of a continent and catheterizable cystostomy using a flap from the lip in the respect of Mitrofanoff principles. Materials and Methods: a conduit using a flap from the lip was constructed in 6 pigs 30 days old. The tube extremities were anastomized to the bladder and to the subcutis of the right flank. Results: 50 days after the surgery the tube was continent and catheterizable in 5 pigs. Conclusions: the use of a flap from the lip for continent and catheterizable cystostomy using the Mitrofanoff principle can be considered as an alternative method when the vermiform appendix is not suitable.
