La capanna 3 del villaggio nuragico di Iloi, OR

Structure 3 was identified in the area around the Iloi nuraghe in the territory of Sedilo (Or) during excavations in 2001. Here there was a widespread village which had developed on the edge of the basalt plateau. It is a circular building with a perimeter wall of which the remains are 1.6 metres high. Inside the structure there is a niche set into the wall, a central circular stone basalt basement, a roughly semi-circular fireplace in the North wall and residual traces of a slabbed floor. Most of the artefacts are pottery which allows us to hypothesize on the main function of the hut, in order both to identify the period, which was between the end of the Final Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age, and to say when the space was most intensely used. The excavations conducted outside the structure have found some material which shows that metallurgical activity was carried out on the site.

La struttura 3 è stata individuata nel corso dei lavori di scavo condotti nel 2001, nell’area circostante il nuraghe Iloi di Sedilo, dove sorge un esteso villaggio che si sviluppa presso il margine dell’altopiano basaltico. Si tratta di un edificio di pianta circolare realizzato con un muro perimetrale di pietre basaltiche residuo per circa m 1,60. All’interno del vano, oltre uno stipetto ricavato nello spessore murario, è stato messo in luce un basamento litico centrale di forma circolare, un focolare di forma approssimativamente semicircolare addossato alla parete nord e tratti residui di una pavimentazione di lastre. I materiali, prevalentemente fittili, consentono sia di avanzare ipotesi sulla precipua funzione dell’ambiente, sia di individuare il periodo tra la fine del bronzo finale e la prima età del ferro come quello di più intensa frequentazione del vano. Lo scavo effettuato all’esterno della struttura, ha restituito alcuni materiali che documentano un’attività metallurgica in loco.
