A 3-steps equilibration method was compared to a single-step one in vitrification of cumulus-expanded (CE) and cumulus-compacted (CC) horse oocytes, both in GV and MII stage, obtained from ovaries of slaughtered mares. After thawing oocyte viability was assessed by nuclear maturation rate after in vitro culture for oocytes vitrified at the GV stage and by the presence of an intact zona pellucida and membrane after 2 h of in vitro culture for oocytes vitrified at the MII stage. The multistep equilibration method allowed better survival rates after thawing for CE oocytes when vitrified at GV stage (61.3% vs 37.1%) and for CC oocytes when vitrified at MII stage (83.3% vs 61.4%)

Abstract
A 3-steps equilibration method was compared to a single-step one in vitrification of cumulus-expanded (CE) and cumulus-compacted (CC) horse oocytes, both in GV and MII stage, obtained from ovaries of slaughtered mares. After thawing oocyte viability was assessed by nuclear maturation rate after in vitro culture for oocytes vitrified at the GV stage and by the presence of an intact zona pellucida and membrane after 2 h of in vitro culture for oocytes vitrified at the MII stage. The multistep equilibration method allowed better survival rates after thawing for CE oocytes when vitrified at GV stage (61.3% vs 37.1%) and for CC oocytes when vitrified at MII stage (83.3% vs 61.4%)I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
