The effect of breed on ω-3, ω-6 and CLA content in goat’s milk was evaluated. The study was carried out in two semi-extensive dairy goat farms. In each farm two groups of 13 Sarda and 13 Maltese goats breed, were introduced, for a total of 52 heads. During the first lactation, monthly individual milk samples were collected during milking sessions and the fatty acid content determined by C18 HPLC column. The content of C18:3, C20:4 and C20:5 was greater in milk obtained from Maltese goat breed compared with Sarda goat breed (P<0,01). The EPA/ALA and DHA/EPA ratios (P<0,01) suggest a more efficient metabolism of ω-3 in the Sarda goat breed.

Abstract
The EPA/ALA and DHA/EPA ratios (P<0,01) suggest a more efficient metabolism of ω-3 in the Sarda goat breed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
