The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of different hormonal treatments on follicular growth in the cat. For this purpose two groups of domestic cats were treated respectively with 1.25 IU ovine FSH or 0.5 IU porcine FSH over four days by 150 IU hCG on day 5. Cats were ovariectomized 26-28 h after hCG injection and all follicles 2mm or lager in diameter was aspirated with a 20-gauge needle. Results showed that treatment with pFSH induced a higher follicle growth compared to oFSH while the number of oocytes recovered at MII stage was lower after pFSH treatment that oFSH.
