Feeding habitus of the striped seabream Lithognathus mormyrus were investigated in the Calich lagoon (NW Sardinia, Italy). The stomach contents of 128 adult specimens (TL=19.5±1.3 cm) collected in spring and summer 1998 were examined. Benthic fauna such as Amphipoda, Mollusca and Polychaeta were the main food items (33.2, 19.3 and 5% of the number of preys respectively), but a large amount of Chironomidae larvae and detritus was also found (11.6 and 30.6%). No differences between the diet of 2 fish size classes (20<TL≥ 20 cm) were observed.
