This short essay will discuss how the impact of new technologies is transforming the concept of memory and, our perception of time. Starting from Walter Benjamin’s reflections contained in the five drafts of The Work of Art in the Age of its Technical Reproducibility, the essay will explore how technology is changing our relationship with the past and the very process through which we preserve information. The ultimate goal is to understand the opportunities and challenges of the digital revolution for the human being through a multidisciplinary approach that does not intend to provide ready-made solutions, but openings aimed at fuelling contemporary debate and social awareness.
