This volume explores, from a pedagogical perspective, the role of differences as a crucial resource in educational processes and learning environments. Arising from a scientific collaboration among professors and researchers from various European universities, it brings together theoretical, historical, and experiential contributions that examine the value of plurality in education, with particular attention to the prevention of all forms of discrimination. The book is structured to reflect a plurality of approaches: from historical and theoretical reconstructions of the paradigm of difference, to the analysis of contemporary challenges in both formal and informal educational contexts, and the documentation of the Erasmus + Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “The territory as an educational community for educating in differences and prevent all forms of discrimination” coordinated by the University of Sassari. Key themes include intersectional perspectives, the relationship between identity and alterity, the relationship between territory and education, and proposals to rethink teachers’ and educators’ training through intercultural and empathetic approaches. The implementation of a European Erasmus project involving professors and university students in was a great added value preventing discriminations and educating to respect and this is described in detail in the book. The volume thus offers both a scientific and practical contribution to reimagining education as a space of recognition, dialogue, and plural citizenship, and will be of interest not only to scholars and students in the field of education, but also to all those who view education as a practice of social justice and inclusion.
