However, in the short routes that connect the shores of the western basin of the Mediterranean, through which the supplies of the Iberian and Italian maritime cities travel, merchants such as the Majorcan Juan Canelles continue to play an important role, carrying out an intense mercantile activity in Cagliari during the second quarter of the century.

Abstract
