The conditions resulting from the interaction between landscape and human needs have often proved to be the cause of development and technical progress: in many cases, the awareness of the territory’s potential and risks has permitted the control, or even an optimal management, of most situations. Sometimes, however, the opposite situation occurs: architectural and urban-planning projects reveal a lack of attention to the shape of the land with the result that they have become inadequate. The following article will examine a few examples of buildings for spectacula and forum complexes, from Italy and Roman provinces, in which, through the analysis of archaeological data, it has been possible to observe effective technical efforts to adapt the structures to the terrain and projects that in some cases turned out to be totally unsuitable. All the examples of public spaces examined have been built in significant geomorphological contexts.

Abstract
All the examples of public spaces examined have been built in significant geomorphological contexts.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
