The photovoltaic (PV) greenhouse allows the production of energy and crops on the same land unit. The shadow cast by the PV panels on the greenhouse area reduces the sunlight availability, which should be carefully considered for the agronomic sustainability of the greenhouse system. This study elaborated a method to calculate the incident solar light on specific points inside PV greenhouses. By applying the calculation to the entire greenhouse area, the distribution of the incident solar light can be determined, giving support in the choice and management of the most suitable greenhouse crops.

Abstract

The photovoltaic (PV) greenhouse allows the production of energy and crops on the same land unit.
