The main concerns of the photovoltaic greenhouses are due to the difficulty in achieving profitable yields in a microclimate penalized by the shading of the photovoltaic panels on the roof (Cossu et al., 2014). The aim of this study is to improve the agricultural sustainability of this integrated agro-energy mixed system by introducing an original simplified approach that identifies the suitable greenhouse crops and their cropping cycles able to establish an agronomic and economic balance between energy and food production.

Abstract

The main concerns of the photovoltaic greenhouses are due to the difficulty in achieving profitable yields in a microclimate penalized by the shading of the photovoltaic panels on the roof (Cossu et al., 2014).
