The recent excavations at the site of Cuccureddus in Villasimius, together with the study of archaeo-logical materials resulting from the research of the past years and from occasional recoveries from the seabed, allow us to draw with more accuracy the cultural articulation of the human settlement that developed in this area of south-eastern Sardinia during the first millennium BC and, specifically, within the Sardinian-Phoenician settlement of Cuccureddus, which was inhabited in a stable form between the end of the 7th and the middle of the 6th century BC. The new data from the stratigraphic excavation carried out between 2017 and 2019 show the existence of numerous structures in full activity until the central decades of the 6th century BC, when a large fire broke out in the surrounding area, causing the total abandonment of the settlement and the collapse of the buildings. Some finds from the Archaeological Museum of Villasimius will also be presented and discussed: a group of two large containers (ziri) recovered off the coast of Villasimius.
