The regular delivery of an accidentally discovered bronze ship model near Lula is here intended as an opportunity to invoke a reversal of the trend, involving citizenship in proper investigations rather than tolerating, if not favouring, the trafficking for profit. It is precise because of the poverty of the discoveries in regular excavations that the ship models' primarily practical function and their chronology is uncertain. The paper addresses these issues, starting from the formal and chronological framing of the typological group to which the new find belongs.
