Nuovi rinvenimenti epigrafici e recenti studi sulla figura dei cavalieri nella società e nell’amministrazione imperiale impongono una revisione dei cataloghi stilati da Duncan-Jones e Jarrett e un aggiornamento delle liste proposte da Devijver e Lefebvre, ampliando lo sguardo al Basso Impero e a quegli individui che non sembra abbiano ricoperto particolari incarichi civili o militari.
