Through the documentation offered by the correspondence between Antonio Taramelli and Luigi Pigorini, this paper considers the aspects concerning the archaeological research, the debate among scholars and the interpretations that Taramelli articulated in a rich correspondence written between the end of the 19th century and the death of Pigorini in 1925. In addition to the more or less known aspects of the scholar’s thought, the correspondence contains also his feelings and reflec- tions that help us to better outline the figure of the man and the characteristics of the archaeological research in Sardinia in the early 20th century.

Abstract
Through the documentation offered by the correspondence between Antonio Taramelli and Luigi Pigorini, this paper considers the aspects concerning the archaeological research, the debate among scholars and the interpretations that Taramelli articulated in a rich correspondence written between the end of the 19th century and the death of Pigorini in 1925. In addition to the more or less known aspects of the scholar’s thought, the correspondence contains also his feelings and reflec- tions that help us to better outline the figure of the man and the characteristics of the archaeological research in Sardinia in the early 20th century.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
