The article is framed within a special contribution to the GUNI World Higher Education Report 7 which focuses on Integrating the SDGs in Higher Education. It is a case study within four sets of stories about HEIs that are contributing to four SDGs in four different countries and contexts. The first story is about water in Africa, and how research of the issue can enable contributions towards achieving SDG 6. The second story is about SDG 4, learning and teaching mathematics for children from low income households in rural Durban. Making Indian cities inclusive and inhabitable in partnership with local stakeholders is the focus of the third story—SDG 11. The present article deals with SDG 8, and focuses on dignified employment for poor communities in Sardinia, Italy.
L'articolo è inquadrato in un contributo speciale al GUNI World Higher Education Report 7 che si concentra sull'integrazione degli SDGs nell'istruzione superiore. Si tratta di un caso di studio all'interno di una rassegna di quattro storie circa le modalità attraverso cui quattro diverse istituzioni di istruzione superioe stanno contribuendo a quattro SDGs in quattro diversi paesi e contesti. La prima storia riguarda l'acqua in Africa, e come la ricerca del problema può permettere di contribuire al raggiungimento dell'SDG 6. La seconda storia riguarda l'SDG 4, l'apprendimento e l'insegnamento della matematica per i bambini delle famiglie a basso reddito nelle zone rurali di Durban, Sudafrica. Rendere le città indiane inclusive e abitabili in collaborazione con gli attori locali è l'obiettivo della terza storia - SDG 11. Il presente articolo tratta dell'SDG 8, e si concentra sul tema dell’occupazione dignitosa in una comunità marginale in Sardegna, Italia.
