LE GROTTE DEL BUE MARINO (SARDEGNA NORD-ORIENTALE) NELLO SVILUPPO DI UN SISTEMA TURISTICO INTEGRATO

The tourist experience as a whole and the role of the Internet as the main source of travel information must be taken into account by local DMOs (destination management organizations) building a successful tourist destination. Looking at existing literature in tourism & ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) while focusing on the specific case of the Bue Marino Caves, this paper discusses the need to better conceptualize the relation between tourist information search in the so called “cyberspace” and the tourist experience in the reality on site, while underlining the lack of common and scientifically validated methodologies to evaluate the quality of tourist information scattered on the World Wide Web.
