The Complexity of Radioactive Waste Management and Human Rights: The Case of the ‘Quirra’ Test/Training Range

Serious environmental and health concerns have been raised linked to the military activities carried out in the Quirra Test/Training Range (Sardinia). The situation surrounding the Test Range is assessed under the EU/Euratom Law and in the light of the European Court of Human Rights Case Law. The State's duty to inform the public, without delay, on possible risks arising from exposure to a contaminated environment is particularly stressed in the concluding remarks.
